KAIN, as he called himself back then, also picked fights and behaved like a common troll.
We had two choices: kick/ban KAIN or disband the chats altogether because they were getting so tiresome. We chose the former option and #Daria+ survives.
Apparently KAIN had been equally annoying to other chatrooms because for a time his entire domain (wvinter.net) was K-Lined (universally banned) from DALnet. This happened long after he was kicked from #Daria+. I don't know how he got wvinter.net un-K-lined but he's been back.
This is the whole story, folks. Don't be fooled by "The Outsider"'s sob stories...he's become an "outsider" for very, very good reason.

<nitpicking> A K-Line is a server specific ban that doesn't require a time limit. A G-Line is a ban across the entire network that typically is time-limited. Of course all the admins of the servers could seperately k-line an ISP and it would amount to a permanent g-line :) </nitpicking>

It was just spam. If you check the newsgroups line it was sent to all newsgroups in the alphabetic range alt.tv.co* - alt.tv.di* and no doubt there were corresponding messages which covered the other 30,000 newsgroups on the net.
