Daria speaks out about Jerry Lewis!

Tom Mueller is doing part of Catcher in the Rye for Prose Interp for this speech thing. And I'm reading "Geeks" by Jon Katz and he writes for slashdot. Just reading it, not doing it for speech. Doing T.S. Eliot there.

I think Chris Rock should be put in for counseling or whatever before John Rocker though. Attacking your opponents in a sports game is an American tradition, attacking the person receiving a lifetime achievement award at the same ceremony you're invited to to do something unrelated to him.... that's just wrong.

I saw Martin Short on Dennis Miller Live last week-- he hosted the Jerry Lewis event, and he seemed to think that Lewis was trying to be funny. I dunno if he was, but I can agree with him on just one point-- I never really found Lucille Ball that funny, either. ;-) That said, there are a lot of funny ladies out there doing some great innovative comedy, and they deserve more respect than they got from him. Ah, well, such is life.

If you'll look at some of her old movies you'll see that she was a much broader-ranged performer than what was seen on "I Love Lucy" (a show that irritates me). She simply found a formula that worked with ILL and stuck with it.

Years ago, Jerry Lewis used to entertain me very much with his silly slapstick. He brought a lot of pleasure to my life.
