Daria's Season Premiere??? (spoiler)

Yesterday (June 21) I happened to catch the Daily Dose of Daria for the first time in months (b/c I'm laid up with this darn stomach bug). In the preview commercial for the new Daria ep (which airs on 6/28), the ad stated that next week would mark the SEASON PREMIERE of Daria.

OK, have I missed something? I've been ridiculously busy (& sick, unfortunately) the last few weeks & I haven't been checking atd or the fan sites (or MTV's takes-15-minutes-to-load-on-my-slow-computer Daria site), so I haven't been completely on top of all things Daria.

Could the announcer have possibly meant MID-Season Premiere? Are they trying to sneak Season Five past us? Is this yet another snafu on MTV's part? Or am I the one here who's hopelessly confused? (I thought that this next episode would be #408 -- is it actually #501???)

Somebody PLEASE help me.

It is #408(see other spoiler thread for info on it and 409-411) I don't know why they call it the season premiere though. But they've done it before with the 2nd half of seasons 2 and 3(don't know about 1).

It's the announcer. I mean, seriously, given the knowledge of the average MTV VJ/ Annoying Personality/ Person Who Talks Over The Credits At The End Of The Show, you can't really expect them to have a clue about the workings of Daria. I suppose that as far as the average person (read: someone who doesn't know/care about episode numbers) is concerned, each 'block' of episodes is a new 'season'. So in answer to your question, yeah, it is #408. You may have been busy and sick, but you didn't miss *that* much.

Thanks, y'all for putting my mind at ease. I suspected that it was a goof on MTV's part. (Will you folks at 1515 B'way get some clues already?!)

And no, Nicole, I'm not going to kill the announcer over this snafu. Instead, I think I'll just send her (& whoever wrote the script for that spot) the stomach bug that's been plaguing me for the last few days. (The bug's name is Petey. I'm sure they'll give it a good home.)

Let me clarify: The goof was the announcement saying that the "mid season" was the "NEW season" -- not the airing of new episodes. That, of course, is NEVER a mistake. In fact, showing the OLD episodes is never a mistake -- we're in the middle of a Daria-thon this weekend with 4 hours of Season 3 eps set to air in about 40 minutes. So, I'm off to fire up the old VCR again (& that way I'll have a backup copy of Season 3).

[Life would be lovely if there were an all-Daria channel, wouldn't it? All Daria, all day. (But, if wishes were horses...I'd probably be trampled in the stampede.) Oh, well.]
