There is a real Jane Lane. It is in Mountain View, CA, down the peninsula from San Francisco. I saw it Sunday in the real estate listings.
Yesterday I chanced to pass one end of it, so I drove down it to see what was there. Not a lot. It's one block long, and filled with very unexceptional ranch houses on small lots.
