How Clueless is the Fashion Club?

I mean really, how self-involved are these girls that they still don't know that Daria is Quinn's sister. Not her "cousin or whatever". Some of the more popular students (Kevin, Brittany, Jodie and Mack) already know that they're sisters. Even Joey, Jeffy and Jamal (I mean Jamie) know. So what's up with Stacy, Sandi and Tiffany?

It's not cluelessness as much as apathy. Why would the be thinking about it at all?

Maybe they do know, but they're conspiring with Quinn's pretence.

There could also be a hint of threat in that "or whatever." I can't recall the ep(s) where the line was used well enough to be sure, but it may imply: "You call that unpopular girl Daria your cousin, but I know she's your sister; and you don't want me to remind people of that, do you?"

I think at first they really have no idea. Consider this quote from "Quinn the Brain":

Sandi: I have a plan. We'll talk to that girl she [Quinn] knows. Tiffany: But that girl is so weird. She freaks me out.

Quinn always says she's an only child, and there is no family resemblance to have them thinking otherwise.

But... by Depth Takes A Holiday, I think they have it figured out. Sandi is talking to Quinn and refers to Daria as "that girl who lives with you" in a sarcastic tone.

Brittany and Jodie both genuinely like and respect Daria; Kevin and Mack tag along behind their girlfriends. Jodie is genuinely smart, and Brittany genuinely nice; the girls in the fashion club are mostly neither.

I suspect Sandi knows who Daria really is but chooses to go along with Quinn's deception for reasons of her own.

Considering their obsession with Quinn, they probably know her underwear sizes as well. It would be difficult for them to miss such a big thing as Daria's existence and relationship to her sister.

Stacy is nice but insecure; she tends to take what popular people tell her at face value. Sandi is a conniving little b***h who probably knows what's going on but is saving it as ammunition for the right time. Tiffany is someone who would have trouble outwitting a clod of dirt.

There's also the fact that in "The Invitation" Daria went up to the trio and introduced herself as Quinn's brainy sister. "Some people say we look alike."

And don't forget that the J-triplex know at least. Remember in "Quinn the Brain" when they came up to Daria and she said, "You thought if you squinted hard enough, one Morgendorfer sister might look like the other?" Or something to that effect.

Sure, the Three J's know. They just don't care. They even said, in "The Invitation," that they didn't care that Quinn was sisters with a brain. I suspect that Quinn could be Upchuck's sister and they still wouldn't give a damn. :-)

Plus, think about who they went to in order to bring the "old Quinn" back ("Bring her back! You gotta bring her back!"). If Daria wasn't related, they'd have probably tried to convince the Fashion Club to change Quinn's mind, but they went to Daria instead. Why did they do that? Answer: They know Daria's her sister, and that she'd have the best chance to banish the Brainy Quinn and bring Their Quinn back to them.

I think we've firmly established that the three J's know that Quinn and Daria are sisters.

But even after the announcement in the first episode and that everyone else knows tat they are sisters, then why doesn't Sandy, Tiffany and Stacy know? Here are some possibilities: 1. They skipped out on the school essembly and missed Daria's announcement in front of everyone. (They could have been at Cashman's trying on gowns.) 2. They are too self absorbed to realize this. (Unlikely, they harped on something as lame Brooke's crushed velour top. A brain being the sister of a member of the Fashion Club is kinda big I guess). 3. They don't care. (Yeah, right) 4. They're just playing aong with Quinn to make her suffer.

#4 seems about right.
