Oh yeah, now I remeber the other thing that had me in conniptions last night!

*grump* The satellite guide said that some dumb Karaoke show was playing prior to last night's new episode, but really it was a replay of The Story of D. I didn't discover this until 3 minutes before the end. Bastards! But I *did* get to catch the alter-egos, and...

AAAAHHHHH!!!! Mr. DeMartino as Mena Suvari's character in American Beauty! Lying naked on a bed of rose petals! AUUGGH, I'M BLIND!!!

I know there were some other good ones too, but I'm afraid that spectacle has bumped them right out of my head. I need air...

That one has been up on the MTV Daria website since they revamped it - right before the season premiere - it's been burned into my retinas since then. However, Upchuck as Richard Simmons was almost as terrifying. Blaaah! Jane as Bowie almost made up for it, though.

And speaking of the MTV site, their most recent poll was for the stupidest person in Lawndale - when I checked, Brittany was leading. However, I think I can safely say, after Episode # 506, that Kevin is officially the stupidest character in Lawndale, and arguably in all fiction. He flunked a single-question first-grade test with the freaking flag standing five feet away from him!

On the other hand, there is the person who wrote the poll, who apparently can't tell the difference between a dinosaur and a rhinoceros, but we'll let that pass. (And no way is Quinn's toy triceratops dumber than Kevin. No way.)

Brittany was leading? Who votes in these things?

Brittany's a lot smarter than Kevin or Tiffany.

Yes, I know that's not saying much.

Of course Brittany only got 2 of the three colors, which makes sense, since, when they showed the flag behind the teacher, only the stripes were visible ("Oh, red, white, and BLUE").

And Kevin flunked because of his posture and because he put 'Kevin' on the test instead of his real name, Cubey (on the other hand, I have a minor interest in where he came up with his answer, 'yellow').

As for stupidest person in all fiction.

Host: "All right, for the grand prize, Bob, What is your name?" Bob: "Uhhh" Host: "Starts with a B." Bob: "Uhhh" Host: "Ends with a B." Bob: "Uhhh" Host: "Three letters." Bob: "b-b, b-b, b-b" Host: "Five seconds, Bob."

Pedantic point alert: he didn't get a star because of his posture. I'm pretty sure he flunked because the one color he came up with was wrong.

I'm thinking he was looking at his jersey.

I have to admit that I don't recognize this one.

[spoiler space snipped, do I really need spoiler space for an almost 30 year old album? Please reinsert space if those goes back to a Daria episode]

[in reference to who is the stupidest person, prompted by Kevin/Brittany discussion]

Big Bambu the skit was 'Let's Make A Dope Deal' Cheech Marin aka 'that sidekick on Nash Bridges' played Wink Dinkerson, the host, and Tommy Chong aka 'you know, Rae Dawn's dad' played Bob.

Big Bambu also had Sister Mary Elephant, Herbie and Ralph, and Unamerican Bandstand.

For more wonderfully stupid moments

My favorite from that one was the "Empire Hancock" commercial.

And, speaking of stupid *and* Big Bambu, the hippie burnout girl who lived in the house at the top of the street where I grew up actually named her firstborn son "Ashley Roachclip (whatever the kid's father's name was)".

Peace Kevin
