Juss for fun, what's your favorite Darian quote? Mine is when they hosted Daria day:
Daria&Jane- Daria! The musical! Jane- That was my line. Daria- Mine. Jane- Glory hog. Daria- Bitch. But I'll prolly remember another good one later since it's impossible to remember all the god ones at once.
Off the record here, I have that bit recorded! Yeah, it's on the tape where I recorded "WWIH" and "[address]" during the marathon that led up to the beginning of the 3rd season. One of my favorite quotes also comes from that same marathon, and in fact I used it as a sig when I was under my old guise...
Jane: Dear Daria, Lousy traitor. Daria: I know what you are, but what am I?
LOL, they were being civil to each other at that time weren't they? Another one I have come to know and love is from "See Jane Run", and I believe it goes like this:
Jane: Now's the time when you say, "Hey Jane, congratulations. I'm happy for you." Daria: (in monotone) Hey Jane, congratulations. Jane: "I'm happy for you"...?
At this time Daria says something along the lines of "I'm not happy for you. I'm not happy that you're being sucked into a corrupt system" or something along those lines. One of the truly classic confrontations.
And Rich has gotten me to really like the quote "Oh no. Wind. Hair." As for the rest of "Daria! the Musical", I like the little bit near the end, after "The Big Wet Rainstorm's Over", where Daria says, "That must be why you're crushing my solar plexus".
And the whole scene in "TALD" where Daria and Jane are in Jane's room and Daria is openly debating whether or not to get glasses, that whole bit where Jane says that glasses are a part of Daria's complete package and Daria goes and says something like, "But you don't wear glasses, so how would you know?", Jane utters, "Huh?", and Daria says, "Pass the cookie dough."
I've also grown to love that whole little bit in the same ep with "Do you think these contacts reveal the you-ness inside?"/"Who's Eunice and why doesn't she get her own body?".
Ah, there are so many classic moments. Hard to choose from them all.

Diane, you *really* need to double-check with the transcripts. :-) Not to be an anal-retentive prig or anything, but the exact sequence is:
Daria - So you made the track team?
Jane - Yeah. (beat) This is the part where you say, "Hey, way to go, congratulations."
Daria - (flatly) Hey, way to go.
Jane - Congratulations...?
Daria - (flatly) Congratulations.
Jane - Now, don't get mushy on me.
And the bit about being part of a corrupt system was at the end, when the girls were forced to do cheerleading practice by Ms. Morris.
"Where do I find these transcripts?" you say? Well, I'm SO glad you asked, because I have just the web site for you. The URL is in my signature line. It's a modest little site, but I think you'll enjoy it. :-)

OK, so I found myself pressed for time and didn't exactly quote word for word...hey, it took me nearly six years for me to be able to get a Duran Duran song fully memorized lyrics-wise so you better be pretty glad I've got at least *some* of the idea here. LOL
(And this is why I'm *not* an English-minded person...I do HORRIBLY when it comes to memorizing exact words and all...I'm just not a "word" kind of person...math is my strongest suit...if you were to throw a calculus problem at me I'd be able to solve it, but don't go asking me Shakespeare because I couldn't tell you, well, maybe with the exception of "Macbeth" and "Romeo & Juliet" because I've read the two plays so many darn times.)
Will go visit *again*...LOL, usually I go there to see the artwork or to read up on older "Mike's Delayed Reaction Reviews"...I never really go there for full transcripts...maybe I should start then, you're thinking....
And I guess I'm the anti-you, as I went to the bookstore and got a couple of grammar books by Karen Elizabeth Gordon (very funny stuff, very well-written, too), and a copy of the Chicago Manual of Style (14th ed.) Yes, I *am* a lit geek. Gordon is cool because she manages to mix in lessons on grammar in an amusing Victorian/Gothic setting.
Either that, or just watch them till you can recite them verbatim, as everything else on TV sucks. (It's too damn hot to go out into the Big Blue Room here-- it was 106 today, and will be 106 again tomorrow. Blecch.)
I liked from there: (something like this, this is from memory)
Jane: You know, when Carlos Castanada died last year, I did a lot of thinking about this episode [Teachings of Don Jake] and the entire Yaqui experience Daria: We're on MTV Jane: Oh yeah. Funny. Daria show. You like.

mine is... arrghhh... brain hurts... don't know. ahh yes... from "Daria! the musical", "would you mind pointing those things away from me?" or whatever it was. i can't remember. need... painkillers... aarrghh.
depends what type of painkillers. ;) paracetamol isn't very good... aspirin gives me a stomach ache.. i like paracetamol + codeine ones, they actually work. i get through a lot of painkillers, fwiw. :)
i haven't listened to any of them... what is the url?
"A fate worse than cello lessons." No, wait, it's "It's like having your hair set on fire -- and put out with a sledgehammer!" Even better, "They're my kind of people!" "Your kind of people are slimy, with fins." Wait a minute, these aren't from Daria... sorry, wrong TV series, ok how about
Jane: You know, I don't know why people say we have a bad attitude. Daria: Screw 'em.
But in the end my top award has to go to:
Jake: Isn't it great to sit here and see your whole life unfold before your eyes? Daria: It's almost as good as drowning.
I loved those lines from "Jake of Hearts." But probably my favorite line so far this season comes from TALD: after Daria explains why she'll go back to wearing her glasses, Jane remarks, "You're a twisted little cruller, ain't ya?"
What a great, all-purpose line! I can use it on everyone, even my parents (ESPECIALLY my parents)
Nearly choken on dinner (Mexican tuna patties with chips) when I read this. I haven't seen that in ages!
I remembered this one! Wonder what my friend Laurie would say about this quote (she's originally from Hawaii and a recent returnee to her home from living a couple years in Arizona).
LOL! And I just unsuccessfully quoted something from "See Jane Run" too. Quite funny for the sad situation that it was.
Just wanted to point out a few quotes I thought were exceptionally interesting.

Also liked this one...plus another from the same episode:
"Hitler ate sugar."
I can't really pick just one. This is a testament to the generally excellent writing in the entire series. I'll throw out a couple from "Daria!"-- "Who do you want in an emergency--Superman, or your damn inner child?" and of course, "Oh no. Wind. Hair."
I loved it too, but I couldn't think of it at the time.
"This record is shot! Why don't you ask your parents to buy you the CD?" "Compact discs were forced upon consumers to increase record-companies profit-margins" "That's very important for a six-year-old to know."

My #1 is from an episode that's not yet aired overseas, but I'll put it here anyway as I don't think an isolated line is much of a bloody spoiler, and besides you've been warned.

"Well, bust my legs and call me shorty." -Daria This one has an allure for me after going through three weeks of hanging out with 6'+ tall guys and 5'8+ girls, me being only 5'2. Being called shorty is something I can definitely relate to right now.
My #2 is from "The Teachings of Don Jake."

Being tall isn't much better. I remeber being asked praticaly every day "how tall ARE you?" and "How big are your shoes?" (16s) People will pick on anyone who is slightly different then them, mostly so they don't get picked on for THEIR oddities.
