My news feed has been sucking lemons lately so this is the first time I have had a chance to post this.
Toon #18, featuring a huge article I did about Daria that includes a cyber-interview with Glenn Eichler and Susie Lewis, is now out at Your Friendly Neighborhood Newsstand.

Thanks for this news, Michelle. I checked out the site and the price for UK orders is $10.40 (it appeared to be $8.40 but another $2 was added after I'd submitted my card details - with an option to back out).
If anyone knows who are the UK distibutors for Toon, I'd be glad if they'd post the details here. I'm too mean to pay $10.40!
For the benefit of other UK fans: I did try The Last Picture Show (that animation, comic, etc. store in Meadowhall) and Forbidden Planet (Nottingham branch) but neither of them stock Toon.
Theoretically there are European distros for Toon, but in praxis I doubt that many copies will leave North America. So mean or not, AWN might be your only chance to get your copy of Toon.
In my experience, the people most likely to get Toon magazine in the UK are animators in the animation industry, and chances are they'll already have a subscription, simply because there's so little demand from regular newsagents. You'll be most likely to find it in places where animators are, like

As I was saying, you'd be most likely to find Toon in London, possibly maybe Manchester and/or Cardiff, seeing as those cities have small colonies of resident animators. Maybe one day that issue will find it's way into a UK comic shop somewhere, but it'll still be expensive...
Caveat: it's been quite a while since I paid attention to the UK animation scene (not since university). Nowadays, I only give it a cursory glance now and then, so my assumptions may be out of date.
Teehee. Interesting was the reaction in Virgin Megastore when I ordered the Daria video. I'm pretty confident the staff member dealing with me hadn't at that time heard of Daria; she found it, flagged on the Virgin system as "ADULT ANIMATION." "Is this the one you want?" <ahem>
I also tried the National Film Theatre bookshop ("A comprehensive range of film and television books, periodicals and videos") - no joy.
I contacted the London branch of Diamond Comics: they'll supply anyone who orders GBP300-worth per month of stock. Fine. And they say they are offering Toon #19 in their current list, for shipping in June. Not Toon #18, for which it seems the ordering window has expired. <sigh>
Next option: special order via newsagent, when next I'm in town.
Aye, there's the rub. I don't choose to buy it at $10.40 (the ?AWN price for UK buyers). 8-)
You may be interested to hear (if you don't know already - it's not hot news) that Nick Park and the people at Aardman are said to have opened a second studio, where they're working on a full-length feature for release in Summer 2000. Working title, "Chicken Run."
