A Plea for Season 6!!!!

Hey folks!

I'm coming off the injured list & delurking for a very important reason: It appears that it's decision-making time at MTV.

According to Michelle K-H & Paperpusher, the powers that be are about to decide the fate of Our Heroine --namely, whether the show will be renewed for Season 6 (to air in the US in 2002).

Since Two Seasons = One Lawndale Year, Season Six will mark the second half of Daria & Jane's senior year. In other words, GRADUATION from Laaaaaaawndale High! The moment we'd all love to see! And the *only* way we'll see it is if we persuade MTV to renew the show. And there's only one way to do that: WRITE. Do NOT call. Do NOT e-mail. Only SNAIL MAIL will be acknowledged. (And if you're like me & want to speed up the snail, send it by overnight or second-day mail.)

Both Michelle and 'Pusher have posted the address to write to on their sites. (BTW, Michelle, LOOOOOVE the new look of Lawndale Commons!) However, to expedite things (& because I don't have my own Daria site), I am including the address in my sig for the next month or so.

In addition, Michelle has come up with an interesting way of getting the message across to MTV execs. Check it out at

Whether you do it the old-fashioned way, or adopt Michelle's suggestion, the important thing is to WRITE & SHOW YOUR SUPPORT for Daria. And we must do it NOW: since it takes at about ONE YEAR to produce a 13-episode season, the decision to renew for Season 6 must be made soon so that the Daria creative team can get started on production ASAP.

This plea also goes out to Daria fans outside the US: your letters of support are needed as well. Write MTV and let them know how much you enjoy watching Daria in your part of the [sick sad] world.

So, in the 19 days left until "Is It Fall Yet?" airs in the States, lets start drafting those letters. (If you want to wait until after the movie airs before sending of your letter, that's cool, but don't delay *too* long.)

Last year our letters helped persuade MTV to renew "Daria" for a fifth season. That season will air next year (most likely in February), proving that the pen is mightier than the remote control. Let's prove this is true again. Lets start writing.

I wouldn't *want* it extended beyond season 6. I might give a spinoff a try (I think a Jane centered art college spinoff might work), but it wouldn't make any sense to extend it beyond season 6.

Jane? Nah, never. Daria is a spin-off of Beavis and Butthead, a cartoon which she was a minorly recurring (ableit interesting) character on. Remember, Todd, VanDriessen, and Stewart showed up way more.

So...Darian most likely to get a spin-off? I'd say Andrea. Though I can't see it really happening with MTV. Still, that's MHO. Whatever that means. ;)
