So a lot of people have complained about this episode. The main complaint seems to be that Daria is basically a realistic show and this episode was to fantastic. So what you're saying is this episode doesn't have any depth....and it's called depth takes a holiday.......see what I mean?
Anyway think of it this way. Daria! the musical was completely fantastic, but very few people complain about that episode. (and the shouldn't! it was great!) The excuse is that Daria! was a parody of musicals, so it makes sense. However Depth IS ALSO a parody. How many Christmas movies are there in which the Hero is approached and asked to SAVE CHRISTMAS? Or even a lot of tv show's holiday episodes go completely outside of reason, and feature the real santa. So if you look at it this way you can overlook the fantasy element and just enjoy the episode......(should it bother us that none of this makes any sense?)
Otherwise just picture Daria waking up off camera and saying "gee, I'm not going to watch any more holiday movies before bedtime!"
