4 Hours to go (Last chance for New Years resolutions)

My New Year's resolution is to do whatever it takes to make the LHWF a hit with the fans.

I've been trying for two years to make the Lawndale High Wrestling Federation something that both Daria fans and wrestling fans could enjoy. At first, it was done with text-based wrestling simulators, roleplay boards, and gifted writers that would act as the characters. Now, with the advent of next-gen wrestling games with create-a-wrestler features, it's easier just to make the Daria cast on a wrestling game.

The first thing I did when I created the characters with WWF Attitude (All of PSX/N64/DC), was jot down the templates so that other people could make the characters. After tinkering with Bleem!, I started taking screenshots of the characters in action:

Recently, I got ahold of WWF No Mercy (Only for N64), and was able to make the Daria cast (And they even look better than before). Unfortunately, I can't run an emulator this time (My PC isn't powerful enough, so I'm resorting to a TV capture card).

In the period between now and the supposed S5 premiere, I will broadcast the very first live LHWF event. Daria Morgendorffer will take on Quinn Morgendorffer in a steel cage.

And folks, it will be something that a lot of us have been waiting to see for a very long time. :-)

P.S.: Anyone here have any New Year's resolutions they want to share?

No offense, but why? That's a question I've been dying to ask you for a long, long time. Over the years, I've seen the fans do some pretty asinine things with the "Daria" characters, and to be perfectly frank, this ranks right up there among them. (Of course, if you're a fan of "Celebrity Deathmatch," then this probably doesn't sound ridiculous at all, but on the other hand, I don't think much of CDM, either. It's a one-joke show that's become more stale than "South Park," if that's possible.)

Actually, I agree about Celebrity Deathmatch, it's grown more and more pathetic after the second season. Before then, it was cool to watch. Now, not even I watch it.

The thing is: There are a few more wrestling fans among us Daria fans than you might realize, it's just that the LHWF simply wasn't interesting to watch, and here's why:

My thoughts are that it's near-impossible to choreograph a heated wrestling match with simple text. You can't really "feel" the effect of a power bomb, or a piledriver, hell, even a bodyslam, by simply reading text. I believe that once I can start making MPEGs, it'll be a lot more enjoyable. All I can really say is: Check it out (When it comes out), and then judge for yourself.

And it indeed does matter.

Even if we accept that premise that there is a noticeable crossover between Daria fans and wrestling fans (I've been known to watch both, although I can't really call myself a "fan" of wrestling), I don't see the compelling reason for a crossover.

I like paperback books, and I like italian food, but I feel no reason to throw my new John Grisham novel into a big vat of marinera sauce. That'd seem about as productive as putting Daria character faces on wrestlers in video games.

As least this way, you won't get a paper-cut when you're taking in a spoonful. :-)

There's been an awful lot of crossovers done here in Dariaville that are ..... awful (Mine included, but at least mine's original). But we do them anyway, and isn't that usually the point when it comes to storytelling? Something so funny, so weird, so freakish that no one has ever thought of it before (Who knew there would ever be a Daria/Living-Dead crossover)?

Now that I think about it, it's not even a crossover. There's no reference to any of the WWF/WCW/ECW talent at all. The second Stone Cold Steve Austin walks into a ring and challenges Mr. Demartino to a steel cage match, THEN it's a crossover. "And that's the bottom LINE! Because my bulging EYE said so!" :-)

P.S.: And another thing: Wasn't this thread supposed to be about New Year's resolutions? Has ANYONE made any New Year's resolutions at all?

An example would be at www.tnm7.com .

It's for Quake 2, and it was made for the Lady Death model. Keep in mind that there are no Quake MD2s around that carry a skirt of appropriate length (And no, the Sailor scouts' are too short), so don't be surprised if Daria looks a little .... different. The Readme.txt and the description also pleads for anyone out there to make a model that clearly resembles Daria (So people won't have to resort to my crappy Daria skin). ------ What's the point of sending the nerd police? Just shove a hooker (Even a cheap one) in their faces, and they'll be stunned for hours (Leaving me to carry on with my evil ways in peace.).
