STOP HERE (That was cool huh?) otay, I just wanted to know how many people were disapoonted with how the Lane family looked? I thought they would at least look a little more ummm, RELATED? Maybe it's just me but I thought the only thing they had in common was the head shape.I mean Wind had light brown hair, Summer had light blonde, Jane n' Trent have black which is like total opposite, and Penny...well let's just leave that alone. Maybe I'm losing it...please tell me I'm not. Never mind, I wouldn't want you to lie to me.

While I too was initially a little surprised at the difference in appearance, esp. since Jane and Trent look so damn much alike, it does make sense. I think a lot of the surprise came from having never seen the parents (like in "Arts n Crass" where they only showed Amanda Lane's legs while the phone rang off the hook).

Jane and Trent definitely resemble their father (and if that's what Trent will look like at that age then let's forget the whole love thang). Summer looks very much like Amanda. Penny was an odd amalgamation of the two, but definitely looked as if she could be an older version of Jane (but maybe that was the attitude).

It's not unusual for a child to closely resemble only one parent. Only Wind, in my opinion, didn't really look like either parent. He looked more like Joey (Jeffy? Jamie? the blond one)'s frat house brother.

Eye color is a big "sort of" (greyish could be blue-ish), since the VCR/TV combo I was using wasn't my normal one and tends to dumb down the color a bit. Penny's hair most likely isn't her original color (can't say I blame her - she wouldn't look good as a blonde or whatever, IMHO).

Chins - where did Penny and Wind come from? They're the only ones with fairly large chins.

Their noses are kind of odd, with several children (Trent, Summer, Penny) having very "sharp" noses, but both parents have rather curved noses!

The animators seemed to be somewhat careful with co-ordinating facial features so the Lanes looked related, but took enough artistic lisence that they didn't all look the same.

Penny's hair was clearly dyed. I'm going to guess it was black. Wind resembles Amanda more. I'd say his hair is more dark blond than light brown.

Hair and eye color is tied up in so many different genes that almost any combination from Amanda (blue-eyed, dark blonde) and Whatshisname (dark- eyed, black hair) would be possible. Red hair and green/hazel eyes do show up together a lot, so Penny may be a natural. Plus her name: pennies are made of copper, which is red...I'm reading too much into this, aren't I?

I guess there is some resemblance.But still, while many things can happen with genes, I just don't think Penny's hair was natural. It was more magenta than red.
