Sandi's last name is Griffin. And the new book is much like the Diaries, but aimed more towards folks who are already fans of the show. I'd imagine that someone who had never seen the show would wonder why a flyer about "keeping your piercing clean" from Axl's Piercing Parlor is in there. The same goes for the copy of Quinn's essay from "Quinn the Brain," and the flyer from Jim's Paintball Jungle. They're funny-- IF you know why they're there.

And Ms. Li's letter to Gov. Bush of Texas seemed a bit preachy to me. Note to Ms. Nicoll: "Daria" is no "Doonesbury." Keep the political commentary to a minimum, please.

Wow... Re-reading over that, it sounds like I didn't like the book. Au contraire: It's a GREAT companion to the show, and it's fall-down funny. I give it an unqualified "thumbs up!"

Anyway, if Ms. Li was really after a notorious electric chair, I'd've figured that she'd've mailed the Gov. of Fla. (is it still one of the Bush boys there?) for "Old Sparky," the most notorious chair in the criminal justice system. (Let's just say that they call it that for a good reason. *shudder*)

Same here-- funny stuff. I would've liked a little more info on the Lane Family, tho-- I loved the postcards that they used in the Diaries-- the notes seemed kinda like a callback to the postcards.
