Ahh, Only in Utah

The following is a verbatim copy from the Canadian Edition of Newsweek. I would imagine it is in the American one to.

A proposed Utah law permitting concealed handguns in schools has made odd bedfellows . . . Both the statewide PTA and NRA are opposed to the proposed law, but for very different reasons. The PTA feels the law is "Outrageous and Laughable" however the NRA feels the law is to restrictive. and should cover all firearms ranging from handguns to powerful semi-automatic rifles. Most Utah residents side with the PTA and will try to settle the matter with a November 7th state wide referendum on guns in schools.

Would someone please explain this to me, My Canadian brain can not wrap it's self around this concept. it would seem they are encouraging school violence.

In theory, if *everyone* potentially has a gun, some fuckwit planning a bit of violence is going to think twice. And if he still decides to go through with it, then there's a better chance that someone present will have both the capability and will to minimize the damage by shooting the violent-fuckwit as quickly as possible.

I figured that out, and *I'm* Canadian.
